The opposition had convened a meeting to discuss the formation of the proposed National Super Alliance (NASA).

But to the dismay of many the county chief, on arrival, pulled his Marcedes Benz with the man himself on the steering wheel.

As if that was not enough, he was alone in the car- no bodyguard, no friend, nobody. Alone.

He parked the car and proceeded for the meeting steered by Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya).

But why did he chose to do this?

Joho is at loggerheads with the national government. He has locked horns with the centre since 2013 over a dozen issues.

Government, recently, ordered for the withdrawal of his security- for the second time.

He is a bitter man continuously gnawing teeth with the centre. Why? For allegedly neglecting the Coast in development.

During President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent visit to Mombasa, he blatantly told the president to stop wasting his time campaining in the region since he will not get votes there.

Although Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, three days ago, said the governor's security had been restored following last week's withdrawal, Joho denied the reports saying no police officers had reported for duty at his home and office.

"Since I returned from Ghana, I have stayed without security and am the happiest man on earth," he said at the Bomas of Kenya.

Joho, by driving himself to the Bomas wanted to prove a point- that he can live his life without necessarily seeking for help from the Central government.

That he is on a mission- to help fight for the rights of the people of Mombasa and in extension Coast region, and therefore, anyone who will stand between him and that dream becomes an 'enemy' of Coast residents.
