Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will not be the automatic presidential candidate for the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition, an MP from Western has said. Kalonzo, now Raila Odinga’s running mate in the August 8 general election, is expecting to automatically become NASA’s flag-bearer in the 2022 elections, after the ODM leader retires from politics. But Lugari MP Ayub Savula has said that it is wishful thinking by some coalition officials to expect Kalonzo to be made the flag bearer.Becoming unveiling the current NASA line-up, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, CCM’s Isaac Ruto, ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi, ODM party leader Raila Odinga and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka deposited an agreement at the Registrar of Political Parties that barred Raila from running again. Mr Savula said the parties’ agreement allows the coalition to pick the presidential candidate from ANC, Ford Kenya, Wiper or CCM. He, however, appeared to suggest that Mudavadi stood a strong chance of landing the ticket.“Musalia Mudavadi is the kingmaker in this NASA thing. It’s Mudavadi who founded and surrendered the NASA name for use by the coalition,” he told the Star on the phone.Should Mudavadi, Ruto, Raila or Wetangula get the ticket, Kalonzo will feel once again cheated by his coalition partners, following the betrayal by ODM in a 2013 pre-election agreement, which said that Raila was to support Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions in 2017.
