Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura. He says NASA's rejection of Al-Ghurair ballot printing tender is based on frivolous and fictitious arguments. [Photo: the-star.co.ke]There is nothing legal in the argument that Nasa coalition continues to anchor its presidential ballot case on, where it challenges the award of ballot printing tender to Dubai-based Al-Ghurair Printing and Publishing firm.Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura has said NASA's argument is political and should be dismissed by all Kenyans as it amounts to 'micromanaging' the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as well as 'mutilating' the independence it is given by the constitution.Mwaura, speaking to a local vernacular station on Sunday, also rubbished the so-called 'public participation' saying it 'basically involves consulting politicians and massaging their egos' which he noted is illegal as political parties have no mandate in the procurement of ballots."NASA's arguments are frivolous and fictitious and are not meant to provide justice to Kenyans but the intention is instead to subvert the will of the people through an interfered electoral process. Remember we are not in this situation out of carelessness," said Mwaura."Some people went to the streets prompting us to go against the recommendations of Johann Kreigler that we should have an electoral commission 15 months before a General election. And now we have a new IEBC trying to work around the clock to deliver the election, it is like music to some people's ears because they are not ready for the same," he added.Mwaura said that there was 'no law applied' by the High Court in allowing Al-Ghurair to print the five other ballot papers while exempting the firm from doing the presidential ballot. The ruling for the appeal case that IEBC took to the Court of Appeal to challenge the High Court ruling is expected this week.
