Amani National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Godfrey Osotsi has lauded the ruling Jubilee Party for backing opposition's push for reforms within the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen have since embarked on a push for the ouster of the poll agency Chair Wafula Chebukati and the remaining two commissioners following the resignation of three others on Monday.
Speaking on Radio Citizen's Jungu Kuu show on Wednesday night, Osotsi termed the move as a justification of NASA's concerns in its pre-August 8 election pressure for the reconstitution of the body.
''It is good that our colleagues in Jubilee have finally joined us in our struggle to put into place a better commission that will only serve the interests of Kenyans,'' said the ANC nominated Member of Parliament.
Both Duale and Murkomen have since doubted the commission's ability to operate with only three commissioners including the chair, following a series of exits initiated by former commissioner Roslyn Akombe who resigned just before the October 26, 2017 fresh presidential election.
The position has been backed by the opposition which is, however, of the opinion that a common ground must be reached between the two political divides before a new team is employed.
