Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of failing in his duty of protecting and upholding the Constitution.

Bosire said the Head of State has openly declared his intentions to 'destroy' the Supreme Court, an independent body, after it overturned his re-election in a judgement that was read on September 1.

"The wild attacks on Chief Justice David Maraga and the Supreme Court for annulling his re-election on August 8 deserves very strong condemnation. It is the height of political thuggery, to say the least," Bosire wrote in an opinion piece published by the Standard on Wednesday.

The legislator claimed that Uhuru always goes on rampage rebuking and intimidating individuals whenever his interests are threatened.

"Remember due to my constitutional work in Parliament, he targeted me with vengeance and even visited Nyamira and maliciously campaigned against me," Bosire recounted.

The MP added: "He followed it up to by unleashing the Government machinery on me that worked tirelessly to ensure I was forced out of Parliament."

Bosire was recalling events that followed days after President Kenyatta reprimanded him for refusing to stand up in the House in honour of security personnel who had died in the line of duty.

The Government withdrew Bosire's bodyguard but a Nairobi court reinstated his security weeks later.
