Busia Women Representative Florence Mutua has dismissed efforts by ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to dissolve their parties and form a new outfit.
The two leaders have announced plans to fold up Amani National Congress (ANC) and FORD-Kenya to a single party in a move they argue will unite the Western Kenya region. However, speaking in Vihiga County over the weekend, Mutua dismissed the political strategy taken by the duo saying it won't guarantee them power."Even if you dissolve all Luhya parties and be one, where will Luhya votes only take you? You need other regions' support,” she noted. The Women Rep further accused former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale of inciting locals against opposition leader Raila Odinga, saying he was bitter after losing in last year's polls."So if you stage manage people to abuse Raila what do you gain? Your trend is worrying," she added.Speaking at Chavakali High School in Sabatia, Mudavadi and Wetangula said the merger arrangements were at an advanced stage and urged locals to support them."We have tasked experts and party officials to finalise the merger," the ANC boss said."Those opposed to the merger are insincere and their mission is doomed to fail," Wetangula added.
