Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula has predicted doom for Deputy President William Ruto and his 2022 presidential bid.
In an interview on a local radio station on Tuesday, Savula warned Ruto against banking on support from the Mt. Kenya region in the contest.
He claimed that contrary to recent assurances by the region's leaders that they will fully rally behind him, Ruto's bid will face a challenge from former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.
Savula maintained that with Kabogo running against him, he will be unlikely to get the Kikuyu community vote, paralyzing his bid.
"Ruto is headed for trouble and should, therefore, stop boasting of his awaiting rise to the presidency. He will soon be shocked by the pending entry of Kabogo in the race which will lead to his loss," he said.
The succession scheme according to the MP is headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta who has since vowed to endorse Ruto for backing him in the last two general polls.
Ruto has, however, since been warned against expecting an automatic support with a section of leaders, including Kabogo, maintaining that he will have to convince the region into voting him.
The DP has since acknowledged that, expressing readiness to work for the votes.
