Lugari MP Ayub Savula will have to pitch tents in different parts of the constituency in order to retain his seat in the forthcoming general polls after his opponents launched a massive onslaught against him.

Four aspirants including Nabii Nabwera (ODM) and Joab Kinzi (Jubilee) have already declared their interest in the area’s seat ahead of the August General polls.

Patrick Sande and Joseph Lunani will contest for the Ford Kenya party ticket before one of them is chosen to contest against Savula.

On his part, Savula has insisted that he will retain his seat in the August polls amidst competition. According to the MP, all the aspirants in the race to smoke him out of office are jokers without agenda for the electorate.

He also said that his people might not see what he is doing because he does not take part in harambees following their ban “To begin with, I don’t have competitors but jokers who don’t know why they are in the race. My presence cannot be felt now in harambees because it was banned,” he said as quoted by Standard.

He further said that he will be banking on his exemplary performance scoreboard to rise to power when that time comes.  “I have the finance to facilitate campaigns and I will ride on my development record for re-election,” said Savula.

His opponents led by Nabwera have dismissed his performance scoreboard, saying that he has failed the electorate. Nabwera, who enjoys close ties with Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, also said that the region has lagged behind because of electing leaders who dish out handouts to the people.
