Lugari MP Ayub Savula has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to dialogue with Opposition chief Raila Odinga ahead of the presidential repeat polls.

Speaking on Monday during a telephone interview with The Star Newspaper, the lawmaker warned that the current standoff over the upcoming elections is unhealthy for the country's economy.

Savula noted the grandstanding on the electoral process is causing fear and anxiety among Kenyans, thus hurting the economy.

"Uhuru is the President so he should lead the way by calling Raila for a meeting to agree on the way forward and ensure the repeat election is held as planned by the IEBC," he stated.

"Kenyans want to put this matter behind them and move on," he added.

The lawmaker further observed the Uhuru and Raila's luminaries are a great impediment to meaningful dialogue between the two leaders.

Both NASA and Jubilee have laid down a raft of demands that they want meant before the elections.

Jubilee has since presented a raft of proposed amendments to the electoral laws that they want enacted.

On their part, NASA have presented to IEBC eleven demands dubbed 'irreducible minimums' that they want met before agreeing to participate in the October 26 elections.
