Lugari MP Ayub Savula, who is allied to the opposition NASA, has vowed to protect everyone who voted on October 26.
Savula said that although that was not in the interest of NASA, it was still the democratic right of every citizen to cast his vote.
This comes after leaflets went into circulation in Lugari warning a certain community to leave or face 'punishment' for taking part in the election majority of residents boycotted.
Savula has condemned the circulation and asked members of the said community to stay put as they will be protected.
"It appears the leaflets were printed by people with money, with the intention of causing ethnic chaos but I, as MP, will not accept that," he said as quoted by the Star on Sunday.
"I went to school with members of the Kikuyu community, many of whom were born and brought up in Lugari. I will not allow anyone to take advantage of politics to cause political animosity among our people."
"I have received calls from so many people who are worried but we will deal with the situation and ensure no one is harmed or forced to leave Lugari because of politics."
