The opposition has called for the removal of the National Cohesion and integration commission chairperson Francis Ole Kaparo from office.

The national assembly minority leader John Mbadi while addressing the media on the summoning of the Homa Bay Women representative Gladys Wanga for interrogation said Mr Kaparo was illegally in office.

"The NCIC chairman should go home. His tenure has not been legally extended and therefore he is illegally in office," said Mbadi.Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo urged Mrs Wanga not to honor the summons by NCIC as they had failed to tell her who was complainant against her remarks.

He accused the commission of targeting the opposition and playing politics instead of their mandate.

"The Homa Bay MP will only honor summons when we are given information regarding the complainant.NCIC should stop singling out the opposition leaders and do its job," said Mr Amollo.

Earlier in the day the commission CEO revealed that they had set aside Friday last week for Mrs Wanga's interrogation but the MP responded to the summon saying she could not available then making them reschedule the arrangement to today (Tuesday) but she had not communicated whether she was to turn up as expected.

She had been expected to appear alongside Moses Kuria and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko over inflammatory remarks but only the Gatundu south MP turned up with Sonko excusing himself as he was in the company of President Kenya on a vote hunting mission at the coast.Governor Sonko is expected to appear before NCIC investigations team on Friday this week.
