Four legislators belonging to the NASA coalition have warned Jubilee government against plans to punish counties that have passed the People’s, Assembly Bill.

The four; Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, MPs Samwel Atandi (Alego Usonga), Lillian Gogo (Rangwe), and Walter Owino (Awendo) say the government plans to stop remitting devolved funds to those counties as a way of getting back at them.

“There are plans by the Jubilee administration to sideline some counties in resources allocation because they passed the Bill. But we will not allow this to happen,” said Gladys Wanga as quoted by the Standard.

They, however, insisted that they will not stop at anything in their push for both the electoral and constitutional reforms.

The leaders further insisted that every Kenyan had a right to receive funds and resources from the government, and as such the funds should be disbursed.

“All Kenyans pay taxes equally hence it would amount to mistreatment if residents of any county fail to receive government services because their county is denied funds,” said Atandi.

Counties leaning towards the opposition coalition have passed the Bill, with the government through spokesperson Eric Kiraithe insisting the assemblies are illegal.

NASA decided to form the assemblies as an avenue to try pushing for reforms, after the October 26 polls that President Uhuru Kenyatta won.
