Webuye East Member of Parliament Alfred Sambu of the Amani National Congress (ANC) has lost his wife.
Through its official social media pages, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) on Saturday morning expressed grief in the death of the legislator’s wife and interceded for the family of Mr Sambu.
“Our heartfelt condolences to Webuye East MP Hon. Alfred Sambu for the untimely demise of her beloved wife. May God give the family the strength to endure this unfortunate loss,” reads a tweet from the NRM.
Mr Sambu had this year been put on the spotlight by the opposition parliamentary group when he, together with his Hamisi counterpart attended the opening of the 12th parliament graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Opposition allied legislators had agreed to boycott the event at a time there was super high controversies surrounding the presidential elections held on August 8.
Out of the 136 MPs from parties allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA), only two lawmakers; Mr. Alfred Sambu of Webuye East and Charles Gimose of Hamisi who is a Ford Kenya MP, attended the function
When asked why they oddly turned up, the legislators said they had not been consulted on the decision to resist the opening of parliament by the president.
Further details of the Mr Sambu’s loss of his beloved wife are yet to be established as leaders both from Jubilee and the opposition send condolences to the family.
