President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have renewed their attacks on Opposition coalition NASA just under a month to the next general elections.
Speaking over the weekend, the duo claimed that the Opposition was not ready for the polls, citing the ongoing legal battles between NASA and electoral agency IEBC.
They further cautioned the Judiciary against aiding the Opposition to interfere with the electoral process, maintaining that the polls must be conducted on August 8 as scheduled.
“You cannot claim independence and use it to interfere with the functioning of the Executive and other arms of Government,” Uhuru said.
“We have respected you for too long but do not take our silence as cowardice. We will not allow our competitors to use the courts to intimidate the IEBC,” he added.
His remarks were reiterated by DP Ruto, who urged the Judiciary to ensure that the polls are held as planned.
