The National Super Alliance (Nasa) has notified the police on their planned rally on Tuesday.
In a letter to Embakasi Police Station Commander, the opposition through Edwin Sifuna and Associates asked the police to provide security to Nasa leaders and supporters who will attend the event.
Nasa’s rally will coincide with the swearing in of President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Kasarani Stadium.
Nasa says they do not recognise Uhuru as the president of Kenya.
In a statement on Saturday, the opposition said they will hold a memorial service for victims of police brutality on Tuesday at Jacaranda Grounds.
They warned that police will be held responsible if chaos erupts during the rally.
