 The Ukambani leader has been appointed to safeguard opposition’s votes as Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga seeks  to dethrone President Uhuru Kenyatta from power following the nullification of Presidential  election. 

Addressing supporters of the opposition and other leaders of the alliance, Muthama said that he has accepted the new role. He was speaking during a meeting attended by different leaders of the alliance including former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero,Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris and Kibra MP Ken Okoth. 

 The vocal politician launched a scathing attack on Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over the irregularities in the presidential elections. He argued that the supreme court nullified the outcome of the presidential polls because of irregularities witnessed during the exercise. 

“Among the issues raised is that Raila’s votes were stolen and manipulated that is why Supreme Court disqualified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win and ordered fresh presidential election,” said Muthama., as quoted by Tuko.co.ke.

 He also said that the opposition has no choice but to safeguard the votes of Raila.

’We must protect our presidential candidate’s vote and will not allow people to steal our votes again,’’ he added.
