Opposition NASA lawyer Paul Mwangi now says that the alliance's dismissal from the ongoing presidential petition hearings at the Supreme Court is inconsequential.

Speaking to the press outside the court immediately after the ruling, Mwangi said that what remains for his side is just a follow up on the issue.

"We were here to represent and defend our client from the allegations fronted against it and it's leaders by the petitioners and since the court has ruled that there is no case to answer, we will now be watching from the stands as the other parties proceed," said Mwangi who termed the ruling as satisfactory.

In the ruling read by Justice Jackson Ojwang on behalf of the remainder of the bench, the judges said that the alliance cannot be sustained in the case.

In a petition filed by the Khelef Khalifa and Njonjo Mue through their lawyers led by Harun Ndubi, the opposition had been enlisted as one of the respondents for having allegedly played a role in the blockage of the election in some parts of the nation.

This, according to the petitioner, brings the eligibility of the election to question as it was not conducted in all the 291 (including the diaspora) as directed by the law.
