Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and Senator David Musila have been accused of releasing fake results favouring them via WhatsApp.
The results appeared to favour each candidate during the Wiper Party Primaries.
Agents of the two aspirants released the results that were conflicting with various polling stations.
The move forced the election board to halt tallying exercise on Monday night.
The results showed Mr Musila leading in Mwingi North, Mwingi West and Kitui East, however, they were neck-to-neck in Kitui Central, Kitui rural, Kitui West and Kitui South constituencies.
County returning officer, Mr Mutinda urged the two politicians to quit releasing unofficial results different from the board.
The final results from all eight constituencies in county are yet to be announced.
