Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has hit out at a section of NASA politicians attacking Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i over the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Education (KCSE) results released last week.
Speaking to journalists in Matuga Town on Thursday when he issued bursary cheques, Mvurya accused NASA politicians of envying Matiang’i success in reforming the education sector.
The Jubilee governor said that NASA MPs calling for Matiang’i resignation are out of their mind and should be ashamed of themselves.
While defending the CS, Mvurya said that the country’s education sector has been reformed courtesy of Matiang’i policies.
He accused NASA MPs of playing politics, saying that Kenyans have confidence in the Education CS. “Let them make noise but they will not succeed in removing CS Matiang’i from office,” he said.
The Jubilee governor claimed that NASA is targeting Matiang’i for his tough stand on education and security issues.
A section of opposition MPs wants Matiang’i to step aside over mass failure in the 2017 KCSE. The lawmakers also want an audit conducted on the results released by the Education CS last week.
The MPs have written to the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi seeking a special sitting to discuss the integrity of this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Examination results.
