NASA principals have planted trees as a sign of hope in Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Ukambani backyard.
Led by the coalition’s leader Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Amani National Congress’s Musalia Mudavadi, the principals planted trees shortly after addressing the press at Stoni Athi Resort in Athi River, Machakos County on Monday.
Mudavadi said they planted the trees to show solidarity in NASA asserting that the opposition coalition is intact and will not crumble as speculated by some politicians.
The Amani National Congress leader said there is no discord in NASA.
He cautioned the media against misquoting NASA leaders whenever they make statements.
Mudavadi said the coalition supports Uhuru-Raila meeting though the dialogue must be structured.
"For avoidance of doubt, the matters we have been handling today are very weighty...we will not take any questions," ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi said before proceeding to read a general statement on behalf of his colleagues prior to planting of the trees.
"Remember NASA is a coalition of political parties and their structures must be taken into account, they shall be briefed about our discussions and their input will also come through," Mudavadi stated in the short statement.
"We want talks that are inclusive, genuine and that will involve all Kenyans," Mudavadi added."
"The Summit registers its appreciation on opening of the doors for constructive dialogue as initiated by the two leaders and the framework for and consequent steps to be taken to address the issues of national concern," read the statement, without being specific.
The meeting had earlier been scheduled as a routine follow-up session on coalition matters, but the principals left out of the Raila-Uhuru talks insisted on making the Friday Harambee House meeting the priority agenda.
