Details on how Raila Odinga will be sworn in will be communicated by NASA starting from Wednesday, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has said.
Speaking to Citizen TV's Big Question on Tuesday, Junet said that the swearing-in of Raila on December 12 was to ensure that the will of the people was respected."The issue at hand is that of respecting the will of the people because the exercise on Oct 26 was an opinion poll by Jubilee," Junet said.Raila made the declaration on Tuesday moments before police used teargas to stop him and his supporters from marching to Jacaranda grounds in Embakasi Nairobi for a prayer rally."I am not a coward, I will be sworn as president on Jamhuri Day, I am the legitimate president," he told his supporters during a stop-over on Mayanja Road on Tuesday. However, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen asked Raila and his Nasa brigade to respect the rule of law and agree to engage with the government on the way forward for a united Kenya."The president respected institutions obeyed Supreme Court’s order to have a repeat election. We expect Nasa to do the same. Let Nasa bring their proposals on how to push the country forward to the table. We want to engage in talks that better the lives of Kenyans," Murkomen said.Political analyst Herman Manyora on his part said that the president did not give enough in his speech in terms of uniting this country adding that 'when things are as hot as they are today you give tangible solutions, which the president failed to do today'.
