Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has come to the rescue of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This is amid attacks and allegations from a section of opposition leaders alleging that he was involved in the presidential election interference in the August 8 general polls.
Speaking on JKL on Wednesday, Mutula who is serving his second term on a Wiper party ticket said that President Kenyatta was not involved in the same basing his argument on the Supreme Court ruling.
''The court was clear that the third respondent who is the President never interfered in the election and this makes him innocent with regards to election rigging. The only one who was found to have contradicted the electoral laws is the IEBC,'' said the lawmaker who also doubles up as a lawyer.
The President has been under attack from the alliance's top leadership with some of the principals accusing him of being behind the attempted plan to rig out the alliance's presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
''We have caught them. We are aware that the President and a section of IEBC employees wanted to rig us out but their plan is botched. It is time he went home through the ballot,’’ said Kalonzo Musyoka during a vote hunting mission in Nyamira on Tuesday.
Similar allegations were coming from co-principals Peter Munya and Musalia Mudavadi.
