A Senator allied to the opposition bloc National Super Alliance (NASA) now says that the coalition's resistance wing, National Resistance Movement (NRM), directly contributed to the realization of the Odinga-Kenyatta pact.

Speaking on Radio Citizen Monday, only days after the two leaders agreed to join forces, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina revealed that the NRM's recent offensive on products from alleged Jubilee-friendly companies forced the government onto the negotiation table.

He observed that the Miguna Miguna and David Ndii-led movement has weakened the nation's economy making it almost ungovernable and, therefore, pointless for the government to remain defiant.

"Our latest achievement is directly linked to the NRM's economic sabotage. The nation's economy has deteriorated making the government open to dialogue which it was initially opposed to," said the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) lawmaker.

He regretted earlier comments from some Jubilee leaders that the resistance campaign would be fruitless, saying that the movement creators were all along right on its final outcome.

"It is now clear that Ndii and Miguna's words that the resistance would achieve big were true," he said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga met at the President's Harambee House offices on Friday and agreed to jointly address national challenges.

Companies that were blacklisted by NRM included Safaricom and Brookside Dairies.
