(Photo/the star.co.ke)Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has rubbished Attorney General (AG) Githu Muigai's claim that NASA's push for people's assembly is illegal.The senator says that Githu Muigai's claim is baseless, adding that NASA is within the confines of the law in its push for creation of people's assembly across the country.Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Friday , the Makueni senatorial lawmaker bashed the AG, accusing him of misinterpreting the law and also misleading the country."Githu Muigai should read the constitution and especially chapter One on sovereignity of the people and top embarassing himself as the government advisor," he said.The senator said that Kenyans have a right to assembly and association, adding that Jubilee goverment alleged plot to scuttle the people's assembly will not work.Mutula Junior said that Jubilee government will not stop the push for electoral reforms.He said that president Uhuru Kenyatta's goverment is afraid after allegedly executing electoral injustice, impunity and police brutality.On Thursday, Githu Muigai termed NASA's people's assembly illegal and unconstitutional.The AG said the the constitution only provides for the creation of the Nation Assembly, the Senate and the County assembly.NASA has vowed to continue the push for people's assembly despite a court order stopping the same.Several counties among them; Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Makueni, Machakos, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, Homa-Bay, Migori, and Siaya have adopted the people's assembly motion.
