In a tweet on Monday, the vocal leader demanded that the Maasai community be rewarded the Senate Deputy Minority Leader post following the earlier House leadership changes.

He noted that the community has been in full support of ODM, Odinga and his past unsuccessful shots at the Presidency, terming it as one of the opposition's strongholds in the vote-rich Rift Valley region.

"We all hope that the Maasai community will be rewarded with the Deputy Minority Leader position in the Senate. We have supported the ODM party more than anybody else in the Rift Valley and will continue to do so," he said.

ODM dominates the minority wing of the House and recently used its numbers to eject Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula who is also a NASA co-principal from the minority leader seat in the Senate.

His position has since been taken by his Siaya counterpart James Orengo, in a transformation that saw Odinga face accusations of interference, with the bloc yet to front Orengo's assistant.

The changes have since led to a newfound political enmity between Odinga and Wetangula, with the lawmaker blaming Odinga for his unceremonious ouster, vowing to hit back.
