Speaking to journalists at the Milimani law courts on Friday, Mutula said that they (NASA) will strongly fight any attempts to fire CJ Maraga.

The senator said that independence of the Judiciary cannot be compromised asking Jubilee to back off any plans of interfering with the institution.

Mutula Junior said that the Judiciary is the only hope for Kenyans and any attempts to infiltrate it will be met with much resistance.

“We are telling Uhuru Kenyatta to keep off Judiciary and shelve any plans he might have of kicking out CJ Maraga,” Kilonzo said.

Mutula said that they will make sure that Maraga serves his full term as the constitution dictates.

There are allegations  that Jubilee could be planning to kick out Maraga following the resignation of Githu Muigai as the Attorney General.

Muigai’s resignation was announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.

Political analysts and commentators claim that Muiga's resignation could be a ploy by Jubilee  to have him replace Maraga as the Chief Justice.

Maraga’s institution received criticism after it nullified last year’s August 8 presidential election.

President Kenyatta after the nullification of the August 8, 2017 presidential election was quoted, saying that he will ‘revisit’ the court decision and allegedly labelled the Supreme Court judges as   ‘Wakora’.

Maraga has several times warned politicians, saying that the institution will not be intimidated or controlled by the political class.
