A Wiper senator has warned NASA supporters against boycotting some products and services that top National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders have called for, saying the move is self-destructive. Kitui Senator Enock Wambua says that the boycott of products by Safaricom and Bidco, as called by NRM boss Raila Odinga, is like “shooting ourselves in the foot”. The senator, who is a member of NASA, wants the people of Ukambani not to heed the call because it will ultimately lead to people in opposition strongholds becoming jobless and businesses collapsing. “The bigwigs who were involved in the alleged rigging and other malpractice should be dealt with, not the employees and other beneficiaries,” the lawmaker said during the homecoming party of Mwingi Central MCA Mary Kanini. “There are so many NASA supporters who will end up jobless as well,” he added. This comes days after ODM chairman John Mbadi and NASA lawyer Edwin Sifuna were left nearly speechless when confronted with questions on how the boycott will cause loss of jobs for NASA supporters and lead to poverty. Days ago, a photo of Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyon’go went viral online after he was seen making a transaction at a Mpesa shop.
