The National Super Alliance, which was officially launched on Wednesday, will hold its first political rally in Deputy President William Ruto’s Eldoret backyard.
Ruto has been critical of the opposition pact and on Wednesday he dismissed the alliance’s principals as ‘power hungry’ individuals.
Before it was formally launched, NASA also held its first rally at Bomet, a political home turf of the DP, a move that now raises eyebrows on its target.
“There shall be a rally in Eldoret on Saturday and that should not worry anybody. We shall reach all party of the country and sell the agenda of the opposition for this nation,” said Odinga when receiving a section of leaders who defected from Jubilee on Thursday.
Strategically, the opposition is reputedly keen to scoop votes from Uasin Gishu County, which its officials believe that it can score due to the county’s cosmopolitan traces.
”Eldoret is a cosmopolitan town and we have thousands of non-locals staying there. We are targeting votes to further weaken Jubilee government,” said Senator Janet Ong’era, a key ally of Odinga.
Besides Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka {Wiper}, Moses Wetangula [Ford Kenya] and Musalia Mudavadi of ANC are all said to have confirmed attendance.
