Kalonzo argues this should however, be done without dissolving the constituent parties within the alliance like was the case of the National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) of 2002 that propelled Mwai Kibaki to power.

Kalonzo made the remarks on Saturday during a thanksgiving ceremony for the Machakos Woman Representative, Joyce Kamene Kasimbi at Wamunyu ABC Primary School in Mwala, Machakos County.

Kalonzo recalled how Narc was registered without dissolving the Liberal Democratic Party and the National Alliance of Kenya (NAK).

Commenting on the fate of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula who was recently ousted as Senate Minority Leader, Kalonzo said the NASA Summit had settled for Wetangula as their choice for the position since  it had been negotiated prior to the general election.

The Summit comprises Kalonzo, Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga, Amani National Congress boss Musalia Mudavadi, as well as Wetangula, who is the head of Ford Kenya.

He dismissed reports that Wetangula’s fate had been sealed after ODM senators voted to oust him from his position.

“That is not true. You cannot seal the fate of Wetangula," Kalonzo said.

Concerning the dialogue proposed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila, Kalonzo said the talks should be all-inclusive and structured.

Those who accompanied Kalonzo included MPs Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini), Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Daniel Maanzo (Makueni), Irene Kasalu (Kitui County), former Machakos Women Rep. Dr. Susan Musyoka, as well as several MCAs.

Wamalwa endorsed Kalonzo for President in 2022.

Describing the Wiper leader as as the glue that holds NASA together, Wamalwa said Kalonzo was best suited for the post.

Makau said it was wrong for Raila to enter into dialogue with Uhuru without involving other NASA leaders, sentiments that were supported by most other speakers.
