Deputy President William Ruto has exuded confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta will win his reelection bid during the forthcoming polls.
Speaking on Tuesday in Machakos, Ruto argued that Opposition coalition NASA does not stand a realistic chance of beating Jubilee.
“If we beat them in 2013, when we were out of government and with the burden of the ICC cases on our backs, how do they expect to beat us this time round when we are the ones running the government?” he posed.
He challenged the locals to reelect President Kenyatta, observing that the Jubilee administration had initiated major infrastructural projects in the region.
“In Machakos county alone we have tarmacked a 260km road network and connected 130,000 households to electricity. We have also [rehabilitated] the Yatta Canal, which was last done during the colonial times,” he said.
President Kenyatta will be facing off with Opposition coalition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga and six other candidates who have expressed interest the country's top seat.
