NASA suffered another defeat at the hands of their Jubilee counterparts in the race to control the all important Nairobi county assembly.

Jubilee emerged victorious after former nominated senator Beatrice Elachi was voted speaker of the county assembly on Wednesday.

She secured a first round win after trouncing four other candidates for the hotly coveted position.

The four included former Karura Ward MCA Kamau Thuo, outgoing Governor Kidero's chief of staff Mr George Wainaina, former nominated MCA Karen wanjiku as well as Parklands MCA candidate loser Abdi Ali.

Elachi promised to serve both the minority and majority equally and uphold the Constitution.

In her first order of business, Elachi oversaw the swearing-in of Ruai MCA John Kamangu as deputy speaker after he was elected unopposed for the position.
