The National Super Alliance (NASA) has summoned all county assembly speakers and their majority leaders for a strategy meeting on the People’s Assembly next week.

The 20 speakers are expected in Nairobi on Friday.

They will be briefed on the new concept that forms NASA’s key strategy to deny legitimacy to the Jubilee administration.

The leaders will be taken through the orientation process by a group of opposition lawyers and professionals steered by Siaya Senator James Orengo and economist David Ndii.

“Because the concept is new and our people are yet to understand it, we are calling mainly the assemblies’ leadership for a two-day workshop so that our team of lawyers can explain to them what it is and what will be their input so that we all read from the same page,” an official quoted by the Star said.

The opposition outfit has already drafted a People’s Assemblies Bill and sent it to the counties in their strongholds.

Earlier, NASA leader Raila Odinga had told a Washington DC audience that the assemblies will give a road map for fresh elections to be held by February next year.

“We have convened a People’s Assembly to guide the country to a fresh, free and fair presidential election, as decreed by the Supreme Court,” Raila said.

The idea for a People's Assembly has already been passed in four counties: – Siaya, Vihiga, Homabay and Busia.
