A traffic police officer was reportedly beaten and injured by National Super Alliance (NASA) Supporters along the busy Naivasha - Nakuru Highway.
According to the Standard, the police officer was attacked after flagging down a bus ferrying NASA supporters.
The opposition coalition supporters allegedly attacked the officer robbing him of his mobile phone and his other personal properties.
An eye witness while speaking to the local daily noted that the officer directed the bus to be driven to the police station but the supporters alighted and started attacking him.
"The officer directed that the bus be driven to Naivasha police station and this is where the problem started as passengers who were singing in the bus moved out.
"The youth stole various items from the officer who was on the ground before rushing back to the bus and speeding off towards Nakuru while screaming and singing," the eye witness told The Standard.
Naivasha assistant county commissioner Isaac Masinde condemned the incident adding that his officers were investigating the matter and anyone found guilty will be dealt with in accordance to the law.
“We have laws in this country and everyone regarding of his status or background has to respect them and we are there to enforce them come what may.
"The officer lost various personal effects including part of his uniform and mobile phone and once we arrest the suspects we shall charge them with robbery with violence," The Standard quoted Masinde.
Meanwhile, the injured officer received treatment and was later discharged from hospital.
