A former advisor of opposition leader Raila Odinga now wants NASA supporters demonstrating against IEBC to ‘arm themselves’ and fight back when attacked by the police.
On Friday, at least three people were killed by the police in Bondo, a move that has sparked yet another heated debate on the manner in which police are handling protestors.
But Miguna Miguna now wants demonstrators to arm themselves to prevent the police from ‘interfering with their constitutional rights’.
“Stop running away from them. Arm yourself and stand the ground. Just fight back,” wrote Miguna in his twitter account.
Similar message was relayed by Siaya Senator James Orengo who warned that the opposition would think of self-defense if the police continue mishandling their supporters.
“We cannot sit back and watch our people being killed. We shall now defend ourselves if the police cannot do their work right,” he said.
With only two weeks to presidential repeat poll which the opposition has vowed to boycott, NASA has waged demonstrations across the country to push for reforms in IEBC.
