The Isiolo rally will be a culmination of their tour of North Eastern region which begins on Wednesday in Marsabit and Mandera counties.

The leaders according to sources within NASA will divide into two groups. On Wednesday, one group will address roadside meetings in Marsabit County before addressing two major rallies in Marsabit and Moyale towns while the other team jets to Mandera to marshal for support for the opposition coalition.

On Thursday, as one group heads to Wajir, the other will be in Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale’s Garissa County. All these counties are grouped as battle grounds and either NASA or Jubilee can scoop majority of the votes here depending on each coalition’s campaign momentum and agenda for the region.

After Garissa and Wajir tours, the five, Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Ruto will converge in Isiolo town for a major rally.

President Uhuru Kenyatta toured Isiolo on Thursday last week and the opposition chiefs want to neutralize his gains following the visit. Isiolo is classified as a swing zone and either of the coalitions can win majority of votes there.

It should be noted that leaders from the counties of Garissa, Wajir, Mandera and Marsabit who were elected on opposition tickets in 2013, have been warming up to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.

The latest to leave the opposition include Marsabit Governor Ukur Yatani and Dadaab MP Mohamed Dahiye. The two were elected through ODM but exited and joined newly formed Economic Frontier Party and KANU respectively. Both parties support Uhuru’s re-election.
