James Orengo says he will move to court to challenge allegedly irregular acquisition of land by Uhuru Kenyatta family in the coastal region should NASA win.

He further says the move will be facilitated by NASA government since President Uhuru Kenyatta may not have powers to interfere with proceedings at the court.

“We all know that Kenyatta family owns a series of land pieces irregularly acquired. I will move to court to have the ownership revoked,” said the former Lands Minister.

He added: “The land quagmire in Coast is directly propagated by these people in power. They own huge tracks of land which they grabbled from local communities.”

While his statement could be political, the Kenyatta family had before donated land to coastal squatters especially in Taita Taveta County.

Land issues have dominated coastal campaigns with top presidential candidates Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga keen to win over 1.5 million votes.

Traditionally, the region had always leaned towards the opposition but Kenyatta’s recent tours that targeted issuance of Title Deeds should tilt votes in his favour.
