Nasa coalition is set to hold a retreat that will bring together governors, senators and MPs elected in a bid to iron out an eminent rift among its affiliates.
The coalition is yet to set the date and venue for the retreat but National Assembly minority leader John Mbadi has confirmed that plans were underway to enhance the coalition’s unity after sections expressed ill treatment in the sharing of parliamentary positions.
“We need to build cohesion. We have those feeling aggrieved after they failed to clinch various roles in committees and also missed on in the leadership positions. I am aware there are affiliated parties feeling shortchange,” said Mr. Mbadi.
Mbadi also hinted on a plan by his camp to push for amendments to the law. He said they were working on a specific law that would shield the Judiciary from intimidation and legislate for reforms in the national police service.
The insights by Mbadi come at a time the coalition chiefs are set to meet on Wednesday to fine tune what has been termed as a plan to unveil a parallel government. Mr. Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi are set to meet on Wednesday January 3, 2018 ahead of a rally planned in Kakamega.
Among the deliberations Nasa insiders say the leaders have lined up is their parallel cabinet and the retreat for its strategists and elected leaders. The plans are in view of an intended push for talks with President Kenyatta, who has remained adamant on engaging the coalition.
