NASA will swear in their leader Raila Odinga as president next year, the national organising committee said on Thursday.
Hamida Kibwana, Koitamet ole Kina, Peter Mathuki, David Ndii, Oduor Ong’wen, Judy Sijeny and Bramwell Simiyu, in a statement, said the inaugural session of the National Peoples Assembly will take place early next year, the Star reported.
"Following the postponement of the launch of the Peoples Assembly that was to take place on Jamhuri Day, December 12, the organising committee wishes to announce the resumption of the Peoples Assembly process," the team said.
NASA said the postponed swearing-in will allow consultations.
"These preparatory meetings will bring together the leadership of the different regions of the country to deliberate on national governance as it affects the regions, and to distil the region’s agenda for the Peoples Assembly," the statement said.
NASA top leaders are expected in Mombasa on December 17 to consult more and set the mood for next year's swearing-in.
