Opposition alliance NASA has challenged electoral agency IEBC to ensure free, fair and credible polls during the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday in Mombasa, the outfit's luminaries senators James Orengo (Siaya) and Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) further threatened that the opposition would boycott the August polls if IEBC amends law stopping declaration of Presidential results at the constituency level.

The duo claimed that the move by IEBC looks to manipulate the election results.

"In which interest is this appeal made? That's mischief and we will not participate in the elections of 2017," Orengo warned.

A three-judge bench of the High court last month ruled that presidential election results announced at constituency tallying centres will be final.

The ruling has since been contested by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati, who described the ruling as "a recipe for chaos."
