The NASA coalition has condemned the government over the withdrawal of both Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka's security detail.

In a statement read by John Mbaddi at the Orange House, Nairobi, the coalition has strongly condemned ‘use of state machinery’ to intimidate the opposition.

“We are equally dismayed by the decision by Jubilee to withdraw the security detail attached to our leader Raila Odinga, and his Excellency mate Kalonzo Musyoka,” he said.

He added: “This is a bad precedent in bad taste and we want to tell the president Uhuru Kenyatta that should anything happen to Raila Odinga or Kalonzo Musyoka, we shall lay the blame squarely on his shoulders,”

“Uhuru Kenyatta as the current holder of the instruments of power is solely responsible for the security of Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and other NASA leaders,”

The coalition has further given the state a 24-hour ultimatum to ensure the two leaders’ security is reinstated.

“We therefor give the state 24 hours to reinstate the security of our leaders or face mass action right at their doorstep, this is not negotiable, and that is irreducible minimums,”

“We are ready to provide security for both Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka. Even if they take it, we can provide it for them” he added.
