Presidential campaigns for the NASA in Kajiado County have suffered a setback after key Opposition figures joined President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party.
Led by long serving ODM county chairman Daniel Osoi, the defectors said they moved to Jubilee after being 'disappointed' in the Opposition.
"Our departure enmasse means ODM is now dead in Kajiado. We were the ones who kept its fire burning. We were disappointed that for all our political investment since 1992, we were not appreciated," said Osoi, as quoted by the Standard.
Others who joined Uhuru's party are August 8 ODM candidates Daniel Tinaai, who contested senatorial seat, Esther Somoire (Women Rep), Kakuta Maimai (Kajiado East), John Lalaito (Kajiado South), and a horde of MCAs.
"We have to move on. We did our best to the party and its party leader. We have not seen any returns," said Maimai adding that leaving Raila's party after all his emotional investment was 'the hardest decision he has made in 10 years'.
Somoire said although the August 8 presidential was nullified by the Supreme Court, the poll was credible and President Kenyatta had won fairly.
"I am convinced Jubilee candidates won fairly. I feel like a prodigal daughter returning home," she said.
