President Uhuru Kenyatta has defended his four-year development record against that of the NASA co-principals when they served in past governments.

Speaking in Kisii on Tuesday where he and his deputy William Ruto are on a two-day tour, Uhuru said that their development record with Ruto in four years exceeds what was achieved by NASA co-principals combined while they were in government.

"I was in Moi government for one year, in the grand coalition I served for three years and four as President. Those are eight years. My deputy here has been in government for less than seven years. In total we have served the government of Kenya for a combined period of less than 15 years," said Uhuru.

He adds: "The NASA leadership has been in government for a combined period of more than 100 years yet very little can be attributed to them."

Uhuru called on the Kisii residents to join the Jubilee wagon where "development is assured unlike in NASA where it is about positions and power."

Ruto noted that despite many area voters opting for Cord in 2013, Jubilee had not sidelined the region and called on them to join the 'winning team'.
