Kisumu Governor AnyangN yong'o has defended the move by the National Super Alliance (NASA) to request for a view of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) database.
According to Nyong'o, NASA's request is protected by Article 35 of the Constitution that basically grants the public the ability to access information from the government and all its independent organs.
"NASA requesting to access IEBC database is not in any way against the law. In fact, the constitution under Article 35 allows any Kenyan to access any information from the government and in any other independent body," said Nyong'o.
Nyong'o further added that accessing the database will allow for an audit of he whole. presidential election process in the country.
The governor believes that if the presidential election was free, fair and credible then IEBC and Jubilee should not be disturbed by NASA's request.
"All that NASA wants to do is confirm if what is in the database matches what is in forms 34As, 34Bs and 34C and what was announced as the final results. This should not bother both IEBC and Jubilee if at all the whole process was manipulation free," added Nyong'o.
