Mombasa businessman Suleiman Shahbal has hit out at opposition leaders claiming that their call for election boycott did not work.
Shahbal claims that voters turned out to vote on Thursday in perceived NASA strongholds.
Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Thursday, Shahbal claimed that there was voting in Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and other areas across the country.
He said that the opposition no longer has say in the country’s politics, adding that it is time their leaders quit politics.
“The election boycott hype by opposition leaders failed miserably because a huge percentage of voters turned out to exercise their democratic right,” he said on Thursday.
Shahbal said that the country will move on whether the opposition likes it or not.
The businessman slammed the opposition saying it is the enemy of the country progress. He said that Jubilee government will not be derailed by opposition’s selfish agenda moving forward.
Shahbal added that president Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn into office once he is declared winner of the repeat poll.
The repeat poll took place on Thursday with low voter turnout across the country.
There was however no voting in some counties perceived as NASA strongholds as police engaged opposition supporters in running battles.
IEBC has rescheduled the repeat election in Migori, Siaya, Kisumu and Homa Bay to Saturday.
