The opposition NASA alliance has now directed its members of parliament to boycott upcoming vetting sessions as President Uhuru Kenyatta will be seeking to reorganize his cabinet.
Speaking during a press briefing in Maanzoni, the alliance reiterated its earlier stand saying that it does recognize either the October 26 election or Kenyatta's leadership and will therefore not be part of his government's operations.
''We do not recognize Jubilee leadership and Uhuru Kenyatta's presidency and therefore direct our members of parliament to not participate in the vetting of Uhuru's Cabinet Secretaries and other nominees,'' said the alliance in a report read by its co-principal Musalia Mudavadi. He said that the alliance's push for formation of people's assemblies is on and running despite facing a major setback earlier.
According to the alliance,it is one of the only remaining effective channels against Jubilee's oppressive leadership.
''After deliberations,we wish to further reiterate that we do not either individually or collectively delegate our sovereignty to Uhuru Kenyatta as his presidency is illegitimate. We will therefore continue with our push for people's assembly formation according to article 1 of the constitution,'' he added.
This however comes at a time when Uhuru's win has been validated by the Supreme Court and is set to be sworn in for the second term Tuesday next week.
