Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga will determine the existence and stability of the National Super Alliance (NASA), political analysts Amukowa Anangwe has said.

Anangwe argues that Raila can decide to terminate the alliance once his terms ends if he manages to rise to power in August.

“If Raila is tempted to trash the coalition agreement [to serve only one term], his present partners will become his bitter foes out to dislodge him from power and he will equally attempt to neutralise them politically, leading to the collapse of the union,” he said.

The analyst also argued that the former Prime Minister will decide whether Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi or Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will become the next Kenyan president if he defeats President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in the August General polls.

He goes  on to argue that it is a matter of time before Kenyans can determine whether Raila is going to honor the Memorandum of Understanding  (MoU) he signed with other leaders forming the alliance or not as we head  to the next general polls.

He adds that the fight to succeed Raila is likely to break the alliance. “The coalition will run the risk of disintegrating, as both Musyoka and Mudavadi may revert to their respective political parties due to infighting over Raila’s succession,” he said.
