Trouble could be brewing in the newly launched National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition, following calls by one of the partner parties, ODM, that Raila Odinga should be made the flag-bearer.
Leaders aligned to the Raila Odinga-led party have continued to demand that he becomes the presidential flag-bearer, to battle it out with incumbent president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nasa is a partnership between ODM (Raila), Wiper Democratic Movement (Kalonzo Musyoka), ANC (Musalia Mudavadi) and Ford Kenya (Moses Wetangula).
The four Opposition politicians signed the pact, to unite and send Uhuru home, easily in the August 8 general elections.
They are yet to name the ideal person between them, to face Uhuru, for State House.
ODM deputy party leader, Ali Hassan Joho, is one of the ODM leaders, who maintained that Raila was the best person in Nasa to be president.
The Mombasa governor pledged to lead pro-Raila campaigns in Coast region to make him president.
"I am going to kick-start campaigns and rallies to support Raila Odinga's race to State House. He has suffered a lot for this country and he must be the president come August,'' Joho said when he addressed a rally in Jomvu, Sunday.
Raila's elder brother, Nominated MP Oburu Odinga also asked Raila's partners, to shelve their presidential ambitions and allow the former Prime Minister be the Nasa presidential flag-bearer.
"Raila is the best man to send Uhuru home. We cannot afford not to make him the Nasa flag-bearer,'' Oburu said.
Other leaders such as Homabay Women MP Gladys Wanga, Busia's Florence Mutua and Kilifi governor Amason Kingi, both from ODM, have also demanded Raila should be in State House after August 8 polls.
This pro-Raila campaigns could make it tough for Nasa partners to select ideal candidate, given that ODM rallies behind Raila alone.
Other three partners have also continued to campaign for themselves.
Kalonzo and Mudavadi were however, heard in different rallies, saying they were ready to sacrifice their presidential ambitions, to see Nasa win.
