Raila Odinga has called on his supporters to remain steadfast as we turn into a new year, promising to give more directions on what next.
In his New Year message, the NASA leader asked for a week to give further directions, as he pushes to have constitutional and electoral reforms.
The coalition, which lost to President Kenyatta’s Jubilee in the October polls has continued to call for dialogue to find a solution to the current political situation.
The coalition is now planning to have civil disobedience, which will force Jubilee to come to a roundtable to find a solution.
“We are ready for dialogue as long as these issues are on the table. Alternatively, we take the issues to the people and let them decide without the involvement of the State,” he said in the message published in full on the Standard Newspaper.
The coalition withdrew from the October polls, saying they would not be fair after the IEBC failed to meet certain regulations, according to NASA.
“We made history with the nullification of August elections. The annulment of the August 8 presidential election by the Supreme Court was only the fourth such event in world history. Then we proceeded to make history by being the only country where the repeat election was again challenged in court for being a sham,” Raila says.
President Kenyatta went on to win the polls in October and was subsequently sworn in for his second term.
NASA has since embarked on a mission to ensure there is dialogue, insisting they will not recognize Kenyatta’s presidency.
