Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who has since earned the name ‘Joshua’ after promising to take over the government in August, led a mega rally in Nakuru on Sunday.
Odinga, who is making a fourth attempt to clinch presidency, has been away in Israel and is expected to jet back on Saturday.
And in a region that is perceived to be Jubilee’s stronghold, NASA leaders are confident that Jubilee’s inability to address important issues like hiking food prices will pay dividends in August elections.
“We shall have a rally on Sunday and all NASA principals will be attending. It will be a nice location to launch our campaigns,” said Nairobi senate aspirant Edwin Sifuna.
He added: “Nakuru is a swing region and I am upbeat that we shall reap in August. We shall penetrate Jubilee strongholds and finally we shall make it.”
The rally was the first since Mr Odinga was unveiled as flag bearer in a ceremony that was attended by thousands of people at Uhuru Park.
Under the NASA structure, Odinga is expected to lead for one term should he be elected and pass the mantle to his deputy, Kalonzo Musyoka.
