Non-Governmental Organisations are now questioning the sudden move by NASA to stop calls for the resignation of IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Under the umbrella of Wazalendo Huru Congress, the NGOs said Chebukati could have been 'spared' by the Opposition as a result of his political alignment.
"NASA called for the prosecution of key IEBC officials including Chebukati and CEO Ezra Chiloba after the Supreme Court ruling. Now they have suddenly changed and are now targeting Chiloba," said Social Reforms Centre chairperson Marion Njoroge.
"What could have changed the decision?" she posed.
The Opposition has vowed to push for the prosecution of officials who they accuse of bungling the August 8 election.
Among them include CEO Chiloba, his deputy Betty Nyabuto, elections director Immaculate Kassait, ICT head James Muhati and head of legal services Praxedes Tororey.
The NGOs told IEBC to solve its teething problems and assure Kenyans of a free, fair and credible repeat poll next month.
"You must resist sabotage and intimidation from any quarter and maintain your independence. Don't be turned into a gravy train," Njoroge urged.
